Political Parties
Political parties as we know them did not exist when our founders
declared independence and wrote our Constitution. The Contitnetal
Congress worked together, not approving the wording of the
Constitution untill all states would agree to its wording. While
having differences, they worked until there was one set of words
that all parties would agree on. They did it with our Delclaration
of Independence, the did it with our Constitution. Should our
founders have seen the effect on the people that parties would have
in the future, they would have protected the people from those
parties.
Protecting the People
- It should be a federal crime for anyone to force an elected
representative to vote against his free will. This would appy to
political parties. Once elected, the party may not take on any
action that would forcefully influence the vote of a Congressman.
- Political parties with at least 10% of the members of the
house or senate should be able to annually select a bill passed
by less than two-thirds majority that had more than 75% of the
votes from the same party as a unilateral bill for removal. Once selected,
the bill will be null and void within one year. Members of the
congress would then work together to come up with a replacement
bill, hopefully one that will not be selected for removal the
next year.
